Hey Folks,
Today is World Suicide Prevention Day and according to the World Health Organization there are two deaths by suicide every 60 seconds.
Suicide is an epidemic that is especially prevalent among our young people so today we took our message of hope and action and presented it to millions of people live on Comcast’s CN8 “Your Morning” Show as I was interviewed by veteran newsman, Greg Coy.
Ever since the publication of my book, Impact: How to Get Noticed, Motivate Millions and Make a Difference in a Noisy World, I’ve been doing radio shows to tell people that what they do — or DON’T do — makes an impact every day whether we want it to or not, but until today, I’d never done a television show.
Well, that is unless you count my appearance in the audience on the Howdy Doody Show as a very young child.
So what is it like to do your first television interview?
Well first of all, let me tell you that if I can do it then anyone can!
But …
It really helps to get some excellent help!

The results … a major booking in front of millions of potential viewers.
Then she went to work to make me feel at ease and to be prepared and professional when I got there.
No half hearted commitment on Sanyika’s part! She CONSTANTLY went the extra mile to work out details with the producer, suggest possible responses to the segment outline and tell me exactly what to bring and what to do when I got to the studio.
Here’s what I looked like 20 minutes before air time.
Note that I’m studying Sanyika’s carefully crafted materials like crazy!
Even better, she hooked me up at the Impact Boot Camp with Producer and Videographer, Derek Brian Stevenson and then convince HIM to go the extra mile.
Derek is an amazing young man with a wonderful heart, who took time out from his own production company to meet me at the set of CN8 and put me at ease. One of the nicest parts was that Derek has worked at CN8 and knew absolutely everyone on the set.
Not only that, but he was drafted by Sanyika — and willingly served — as official photographer and videoagrapher for a sneak peek at what went on BEHIND the scenes so that you could get a feel for what it was like.
Now, please note that while Derek shot the video with my Flip camera, he did NOT edit this video. I KNOW that Derek would have done a MUCH better job, but I wanted to get it out to you quickly and with a full day of up at 4:45 AM at the studio by 6:30 AM, a high-level interview and then a session with a chain saw and a HUGE maple tree in my back yard, it was a busy day. Forgive the quality, enjoy the peek behind the scenes and ABSOLUTELY don’t hold Derek responsible for the quality! He was OUTSTANDING!

The interview was over like a shot. Unfortunately, although it was in the outline the host skipped over the question that would have allowed me to plug this web site, but at least the message got out to a great many people.
So from this point on, I can say, I do both radio AND TELEVISION interviews and it will never be the FIRST time again.
With practice I’m sure that I can learn the skills to do this again and again.
Television is something that we ALL know touches millions of people and yet most of us don’t see ourselves in the interview seat.
I’d like to encourage you.
If I can do this, you can too!
After all, how much can you really say in 3 minutes and 30 seconds!
It turns out, that you can say quite a lot, if you get a little help from the experts and ACTUALLY DO what they ask you to do.

Suicide what is it and how we can prevent it. We can’t but we can all offer the very best of ourselves to improve the lives of others.If we do this, we give them a new chance in their life. If we offer them hope, we have to stand committed in our approach, it’s not something that we give once, we must pledge our all or lose everything.Creating a community of children to Speak Up is a more defined way when we hear their thoughts.But we must do this correctly.Protecting & safeguarding children into an environment where they feel less threatened and are comfortable about addressing & voicing their concerns without the presence of parents.If we can give them a secured platform of their own,group fun activities and group chat sessions at the end of each day may encourage our youth to feel more value in their own lives.And if they don’t feel like they are contributing,we have to invent those steps for them to follow.
Depression,financial worries,divorce,separation,family fights often create an insurmountable degree of emotional stress that leads children to suicide.They don’t want to grow up and face the world as they see their parents.
Can we create an atmosphere that enriches their life experiences outside the family home, and away from the electronic wizardry. Only time & dedication will tell if it was successful. But we need to do more. We also need to help financially in poverty stricken neighborhoods to offset the balance and give children scope in their lives and show them how we do things,so they can be good role models as they age. Changing their mindset and opening new windows of opportunity that would otherwise not exist.

The fact is that suicide is killing our teens and at a rate higher than before. In fact it has TRIPLED in the last 25 to 30 years. Coincidentally, it is about the same time that ART was taken out of the schools because of budget restraints and lack of academic achievment.
It seems the government was more concerned about money and constantly pushing our kids to excel than it was about their creative and emotional expressions, which is what art does for a child.
This is why I created my non profit organization, United Arts Movement International, or UAMI for short.

There is where I describe what I know to be the problem and also where I know to be a solution to this epidemic among our young people.
I truly feel it is why we continue to see suicides at a high rate as well as the heinous murders like Virginia Tech, Illinois murders, the massacre in Utah at the mall and well, I could go on and on.
I used to work in the school system at the pre-school, primary and middle school levels. I also work with high school and college age kids through my musical endeavors.
It is what I saw while working in the school systems that prompted me to create my non profit to benefit children of all ages but mostly teens and young adults who are being repressed and constantly pushed to excel that it becomes too much. THis is the underlying rage that takes on a life of its own pushing some to suicide, murder on a mass scale, or both.
To be sure, depression which is also higher than it has been in 100 years with teens, financial worries, the economy and the like plays parts in theis tangled mess but I see direct correlation to the deterioration of our society because of the lack of access to art and artistic expression, which is EMOTIONAL expression and it has affected us all.
The thing is, I need your help Ken et. al., with helping me develop, promoting and raising money so I can do this.
FOr the past year I have put the systems in place getting things in order and I’m asking for help to get this out on a mass scale because I feel it is important to save our young; our future and apparently you all feel the same.
I know you and I have spoken before Ken and I was going to meet you in Philidelphia but I fell ill for the last 8 months and couldn’t make it out.
I am healthy once again and fervently pushing my mission forward but I need your (everyone’s) help now.
I have been in the Internet community for the last five years and have come to know many top flight marketers; the GURUS and there are only a few I haven’t met yet and now I’m on a mission to coneect up with as many people I can that see, feel and understand my mission and are willing to help me see this to fruition.
